The Profit Firm: Tax Engagement Process
Step 1:
Discovery Call

We begin by reviewing the client’s tax situation, confirming service needs, and outlining the next steps. Following the call, the client receives a Tax Portal Invitation, Engagement Agreement, and Tax Organizer.
Step 2:
Kickoff Strategy Call (or Quarterly Tax Strategy Session)

During this session, we identify and refine tax-saving opportunities by reviewing:

-
Custom Tax Strategies
-
Alignment of Tax Strategies with Lifestyle &/or Bookkeeping
-
Business structure
-
Income, expenses, and deductions
-
Additional tax-saving options
-
Estimated tax payment needs

Outcome: A clear, customized action plan outlining what the client and our team will implement to optimize their tax position.
Step 3:
Complete Tax Portal Requirements

The client must complete all portal items before preparation can begin:

-
Engagement Agreement
-
Tax Organizer (must click “Complete”)
-
Required document uploads

No work can start until the Tax Organizer is fully completed.
Step 4:
In Queue: Document Verification & Preparation

Once requirements are complete, the file moves In Queue.
Our Tax Specialists:

-
Verify all documents
-
Begin preparing the draft tax return
-
Request any missing or unclear items through the portal
Step 5:
Draft Filing & Review

After preparation:

-
A second review of the draft return
-
A Loom video is delivered explaining refund/liability, major details, and next steps
-
The client reviews and either approves or requests a follow-up meeting

Auto-Approval: If no response is received within 3 days, the draft is automatically approved.
Step 6:
Invoice & E-Signature

Once the return is approved:

-
An invoice is sent
-
After payment is received, the client receives the E-signature form required for filing.
Step 7:
IRS E-Filing

With the signed authorization returned:

-
We submit the return electronically to the IRS
-
Filing confirmation is uploaded to the client’s portal
